There are several Quiz features in Moodle. Quizzes can be configured to allow automatic submission of open attempts when the quiz closes, saving instructors and students time and frustration.
Open attempts are submitted automatically
This option will help avoid situations where students have completed, but not “submitted” their quiz results. This option is set as the default for all new quizzes. Existing quizzes (e.g. from copied courses) will not be changed. Edit Quiz Settings to change this option.
Auto new page after 5 questions
This default will help faculty to space questions on different pages of a quiz. Reminder: Student work is only saved when the student advances to a new page, so it is important not to place too many items on one page.
To change this setting, click “Show Advanced” on the Edit Settings screen for the Quiz:
Can enforce delay between attempts
Faculty may wish to allow students to take multiple attempts at a quiz, especially if a question pool provides different questions for each attempt. This option allows faculty to require that a student wait between attempts, encouraging the student to study the material, rather than simply attempting to improve their grade by guessing. Delays between the first and second attempts and between the second and all subsequent attempts may be set separately. The default value is 0 for no delay.
