Office 365 Download and Installation Guide
To download and install Office 365 to your computer you must be currently enrolled at Granite State College.
Use of this software is contingent on being an active student at Granite State College (GSC) within the past year.
Once you are no longer active at the College, you must uninstall the software and you will no longer have access to your files stored in the cloud.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION, READ FIRST:
- If you already have a version of Microsoft Office installed on the device, you must uninstall it before installing Office365.
- When you uninstall a program, be sure to keep a record of the registration key. If you choose to reinstall the program after you are no longer active at GSC, you will need this registration key.
- If you recently enrolled at the College, it takes up to 48 hours for your new accounts to be created in the Microsoft system. You will not be able to download Office 365 until your account is active.
- When installing on a tablet device (e.g. Microsoft Surface) make sure the device has enough battery charge to download and install the programs or plug it into a power source while the software is downloading.
Follow these easy steps:
- Open a web browser.
- Go to GO.GRANITE EMAIL login page. (Note: You will also find a link to Go.Granite email in the upper navigation of Moodle).
- Login using the same account that you use for Moodle & WebROCK.
- Once logged in, you should see a pop-up for Office 365. Click the Install Now link. If not, click on the OFFICE 365 Logo in the upper left-hand side of window. The screen below should be displayed.
- Unless you want the Bing search engine and MSN browser as your homepage, deselect these 2 check boxes.
- The default and recommended installer for PCs is 32-bit. If you need to change to a 64-bit installer to complete the download, select the Change link next to the Language: English text and then click Advanced.
- Click Install Now to continue.
- Unless you want the Bing search engine and MSN browser as your homepage, deselect these 2 check boxes.
- When prompted, click Run to launch the installer.
- The Microsoft Office installer will now start. Click Next to proceed and then select Accept to agree to the license terms.
- Microsoft will then introduce OneDrive, Microsoft’s online file storage utility. Note: Access to OneDrive is limited to active students with Granite State College. Access to files on OneDrive will not be available once your account becomes inactive. Users are accountable for content and safety of files of their documents.
- Click Sign In to activate the software. This login will also link the installation to include OneDrive as a location to open or save files.
- To take a tour of Microsoft Office, click Take a look, otherwise click No, thanks.
The installation is now complete. Congratulations!
