To copy a course from one eLearning+ Moodle course to another, you will use the Import feature.
If you have an empty course shell and would like to import the GSC Course Template which includes module labels, proceed with the steps below and import the designated template in Step #2 below.
Step 1) Enter your empty course shell for the new term (also called the destination course, where you want the content to be copied. IMPORTANT: make sure you are in your empty course shell before following the steps below for Importing.)
Go to the Administration block located in left column of the course page and click Import.
Step 2) Course Selection
a) Select the source course (course to import the data from) on the list. This list will only display courses in which you are an instructor or otherwise have an instructor role. Click Continue.
b) If you do not find your course in the list, use the search tool to find it. Select the course and click Continue.
c) New Course Template: If you have an empty course shell and want to import a new course template including labels for each module, search for and use this template: GSC-Course-Template-Labels
Step 3) Initial settings
a) The activities, blocks, and filters will be pre-checked. Leave all of these checked.
b) Go to the bottom of the page and click Next.
Step 4) Schema
All of the content from your source course is automatically selected. If you want all of the content, go to the bottom of the page and click Next. You may however choose to uncheck any items you do not want imported. If you want to import only selected content, you can de-select items in this step. There is no select/deselect all function, but if you deselect the bold title of a topic, it will deselect all content in that topic. This doesn’t seem to shorten the import time however.
Step 5) Confirm and review
Go to the bottom of the page and click on the Perform import button. This make take several minutes (up to 30 minutes depending on the size of your course content). Do not click on the Perform import button more than once.
Step 6) Perform import
Source course is automatically backed up and restored into destination course (User data is not included). This process can take 30 minutes or more, if there are many file attachments or quizzes in the source course. Allow the import process ample time to do its job and do not interrupt the process. Note that instructor posts, calendar events, etc., will not be copied and Import DOES NOT overwrite the current course theme, short name, full name, etc.
When course is done importing, a message shows saying it completed successfully, with a link to go back to the course. If there were any errors during the process, they will display on this page. Click Continue to return to your course.
Step 7) Completed
You have successfully imported your course. If you do not see your course yet, wait an hour, then refresh the page.

Note: This process is best used when copying a course from one term to another. If you are teaching a course that has 2 sections in one term, it is best to use another process which includes all instructor posts. Copying of double sections is handled by GSC staff.
