Editing in Moodle

Overview: Editing includes many tasks including adding content, changing it,  formatting it,  and  moving it.

Turn editing on

How to Turn Editing On; the meaning of the editing icons, including General editing icons, editing icons for Blocks, for Sections, for Activities and Resources.

Adding/Editing a Course

This page provides teacher documentation on how to add and edit a new course, the main learning and teaching space in Moodle.  Included are brief instructions for adding activities,  adding resources,  adding blocks, and managing the course. A  great section describing the editing icons is also found.

Using the HTML Editor

The text editor (sometimes referred to as the ‘HTML Editor‘ or even ‘TinyMCE’) has many icons to assist the user in entering content. Many of these icons and functions should be familiar to anyone who uses a word processor. Some examples of where you will see the text editor include: Editing Section headings, description of an activity, writing an answer to a quiz question or editing the content of many blocks.

Editing With the Mass Actions Block

This block allows instructors to perform actions upon multiple resources or activities, rather than having to perform repeated actions on individual items.

Improved Editing Icons

This YouTube video (4:42 min.) shows the new editing icons in  Moodle, including the Move icon and the Edit drop down menu.
