How to Create a Discussion Forum

Overview: A forum is an activity where students and teachers can exchange ideas by posting comments. A forum can contribute significantly to successful communication and community building in an online environment.

How to Create a Forum:

1.  Make sure the you have turned the editing option on first.

2. Go to section of the course where you wish to add a forum and select the “Add an activity or resource link at the bottom of the section. 

3. Select “Forum” from the list of activities and resources and then click the Add button.

4. Add the Forum name and Forum description. a The “standard” forum is the most typical forum type.  See question mark icon for a description of the five different forum types.  Most other settings can be left at the defaults.
