Communications

Overview: Communication between instructor and learners, and between learners, is a critical part of the learning process. Moodle provides several built-in forms of communication. Instructors and students may also communicate outside of Moodle.

Announcements

The Announcements Forum is a special forum for announcements that is automatically created when a course is created. A course can have only one Announcements Forum. Only teachers and administrators can post in the Announcements Forum. The Announcements Forum is equivalent to Announcements in Blackboard.

One-on-One Forums

One-on-One Forums enable instructors to provide interaction and assistance to individual students within a specific online course. Instructors create these forums.

Forum Viewing Options

Instructors and students have several options while viewing a forum.

Using Messages

Logged in users (students, teachers or administrators) may send messages to each other regardless of whether they are enrolled in the same course.

Messages are sent via a popup Message window. 

Chat

The Chat activity provides a synchronous (real-time) discussion.
