Granite State College will be moving from the Moodle learning management system (LMS) to the Canvas LMS in 2021. The following is general information regarding this transition.
We will be adding more information and resources here for students and faculty in the coming months.
Why is the college moving to Canvas?
The University System of NH (USNH) recently purchased Canvas as part of a NH state-wide license that covers all USNH institutions, the Community College System of NH, and K-12 schools. Canvas is a well-designed, intuitive Learning Management System (LMS) that focuses on saving time and effort, so that faculty and students can focus on the course content and not the platform.
What is the timetable for moving to Canvas?
The Graduate Studies courses will be offered in Canvas starting the Spring 2021 term. (This includes the graduate level School of Education courses as well as any Undergraduate/Graduate co-listed courses.)
The Undergraduate and School of Education Post-Baccalaureate courses will be offered in Canvas starting the Summer 2021 term. No new courses will be offered in Moodle after the Spring 2021 term. See the Migration Schedule Overivew
How do I learn more about Canvas?
We will be providing more information and documentation on this website soon.
We will provide training sessions for students and faculty prior to the start of the term. We are also pleased to share that Canvas provides online chat and phone support for system usage questions 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Contact details will be available in all Canvas courses as well as on the IT website. GSC will continue to offer orientations for students at the start of each term. Moodle orientations will be offered through the Spring 21 Term. Canvas orientations will be offered starting Spring 21 and moving forward.
When will Moodle be discontinued?
Moodle will be available to students through the end of the Summer 2021 term. This will allow any students with an incomplete to access and complete their spring term courses.
Access to Moodle will be limited after the Summer 2021 term.
