GSC’s Moodle system now has an upgraded Kaltura video system that enables you and your students to post videos inside your discussion forums. Watch this quick demonstration (with lovely music!).
Here are some ideas for how to use videos in Discussion Forums:
- Use them in an Introduction forum so that everyone can get to know each other with more personality.
- Need a way for students to share videos of presentations for peer review? Use a regular Discussion Forum instead of the Kaltura video Assignment.
- Want to switch up the manner of interaction in a forum? Have students post a video response instead of a written one. This might be especially useful if you want your students to record a video of their community or project.
The tutorial for using videos in Discussion Forums is located among all the other tutorials for video — the button is in the sidebar of all Moodle courses (this is what it looks like, on the right).
Be sure to advise your students to upload videos that are academically appropriate!
